Film Review: "Atlas Shrugged, Part I"

Checked out the film version of "Atlas Shrugged" last night at Union Square. It seemed like an honest effort to bring Ayn Rand's masterwork to the screen, but it left a lot to be desired, I'm sorry to say. Soap-opera-quality dialogue and acting made the film drag, and I don't think anyone who hadn't already read the book would be able to follow what was going on.
Should it really be this hard to make a good movie out of this epic novel that's so relevant to today's events? Let's hope someone gives it another shot.
For anyone in need of a short overview of Ayn Rand and why she's important, here's a fine one by an excellent, though modest, writer.
